Government Relations Committee

Purpose

The Nampa Chamber’s Government Relations Committee is committed to informing and engaging our business community in the political process — with the ultimate goal of increasing voter turnout in Nampa and elevating the voice of business in local and state government.

At a time when misinformation is on the rise and voter participation is among the lowest in the state, this committee serves as a trusted source for civic education, political awareness, and community connection.

Current Focus: Education First

In its current phase, the committee is launching a Government Relations Education Series, designed to equip members with the tools and knowledge to better understand and navigate government at all levels.

Topics Include:

  • The structure and function of state, county, and city governments

  • How taxing districts impact local decision-making

  • Identifying and supporting leaders aligned with pro-business values

  • Ways to promote civic engagement and increase voter turnout

Led by two former Idaho State Legislators, the series is your opportunity to learn, ask questions, and prepare for future advocacy and involvement.

Why It Matters

Canyon County is one of the fastest-growing regions in Idaho, and with that growth comes complex challenges — from infrastructure to education to public safety. Ensuring Nampa voters are informed and active is essential to securing smart, sustainable solutions for our community.

Looking Ahead

While the committee’s current focus is on education, future phases will include coordinated efforts to activate voters, facilitate conversations with public officials, and advocate for business-friendly policies.

Interested in Participating?

The Government Relations Committee meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday, September through June, and each session builds on the last. Whether you're new to local government or deeply invested in civic issues, this committee is a great place to plug in, learn, and help strengthen the business community's voice.
